From motivated, inspired students hurrying to class or taking a moment to relax on the "Yard," to jazz wafting on the plaza outside Jazzman's, to the prodigious words of Martin Luther King Jr. '48 etched on the base of a statue of this nation's greatest civic transformer, life on the Morehouse College campus is full of sight, sound and wonder.

 

An enriched environment—where just as much attention is given to creature comforts and aesthetically pleasing surroundings as to the tools for advancing academics—is necessary for a quality education. Numerous lectures, seminars and conferences, a plethora of student organizations, and social and sports activities mean that life on campus is always exciting and engaging. It is fertile ground, where potential and possibility inevitably turn into purpose, scholarship and leadership.

 

As dynamic as the campus is on its own, Morehouse is a part of two other vibrant and diverse communities.

The first is the Atlanta University Center, the largest consortium of black colleges and universities in the world. Besides Morehouse, other member institutions include Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Interdenominational Theological Center and the Morehouse School of Medicine. Students regularly intermingle in classes, seminars and social events, further expanding their exploration of knowledge and life itself.

 

Secondly, the campus is located in the historical West End community and is only minutes from downtown Atlanta, a mecca of black professionalism that features major entertainment and sports venues.
